Top Ten in the Second Week

What a great second week! Here are the top cities in the voting so far (taking into account the first 1500 votes as of Tuesday--we've had more since then, but since we're double-checking these by hand to eliminate double-votes and correct misspellings, it takes us a bit of time to make the charts).

The top ten haven't actually changed that much, as you can see (click the chart to embiggen):

Top Ten (so far!):
  1. Boise, ID
  2. Toronto, Ontario
  3. Lansing, MI
  4. Dallas, TX
  5. Salt Lake City, UT
  6. Houston, TX
  7. Chicago, IL
  8. Atlanta, GA
  9. New York, NY
  10. Shreveport, LA
It's still so early in the competition, but you'd be in the top thirty with only 18 votes. I don't want anyone to be discouraged by the rankings so far, because it really would just take the support of some awesome people spreading the word to entirely swing this thing around to another city. (Eep! So exciting!)

Way to go, Irving Library!
Also, I don't think it's a coincidence that seven of the top ten cities also have a strong library presence with librarians who've requested swag and/or posted flyers. We still have about ten packs that can be given out, so if you're interested in requesting bookmarks to distribute and are a US or Canadian librarian, bookseller, or teacher, just send your address and request swag at authorbethrevis@gmail.com. Remember, this is first-come-first-served, and we only have about 10 more packs to give out, so once they're gone, they're gone.

And don't forget--the flyers are free and easy to download! Feel free to use these pre-made ones, or custom make some that show your town's support! Ask you local librarian, teacher, or bookstore to let you post them up--you'd be amazed at what a difference you can make in this effort!

Check out this awesome display made by the Irving Public Library! (And if you've got pics that you'd like to share of your creative, amazing ways of spreading the word, let us know and we'll feature you on here, too!)

Remember, the contest ends on February 15, so you have plenty of time to vote for YOUR town!
